About Us

Welcome To West Bengal Judicial Academy

The West Bengal Judicial Academy [WBJA], a training establishment of the High Court at Calcutta, is dedicated to judicial education and capacity building for judicial officers and other stakeholders serving in West Bengal as well as the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Established on 28th February 2005, the WBJA functions under the overall guidance of the Hon’ble Judges’ Committee constituted for the Academy, with the Hon’ble Chief Justice of the High Court at Calcutta serving as its Chief Patron. The Academy is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening the quality, efficiency, and responsiveness of the judicial officers, thereby contributing meaningfully to the overall administration of justice. The primary objective of training is to continually equip the trainee judges with the legal acumen, ethical values, and practical skills essential for effective adjudication.
